JinHee Kate Kim

Dr. JinHee Kate Kim enjoys her career as a chamber musician, multi-media violinist, and educator. Praised for her “sensitive voicing” by the German Newspaper Leipziger Volkszeitung, Dr. Kim has given numerous chamber recitals, concerto and orchestra concerts throughout the U. S., Canada, Korea, Germany, and Italy in venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York City, Symphony Hall in Boston, and the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in Seoul. Dr. Kim founded trio and duo groups and received national and international competition prizes including the First prize at the International Chamber Music Ensemble Competition in New York. She debuted at Carnegie Hall and Sejong Center for the Performing Art as a member of Trio Eca and appeared on TV shows of Arte TV, FEBC Seoul, Earl TV Toronto, and EBS Toronto among others. 

 

As an educator, Dr. Kim currently teaches at California Baptist University and previously taught at Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati and Eastern Nazarene College in Boston. She also has been regularly judging at competitions and giving masterclasses and workshops in the U.S. and abroad including SYMF (Southwestern California Youth Music Festival), MTAC (Music Teachers Association of California), CAPMT California Association of Professional Music Teachers), and JCM (Junior Chamber Music). Her principal teachers include renowned soloists James Buswell and Michèle Auclair at the New England Conservatory, and Roman Totenberg at Boston University. She studied chamber music with Menahem Pressler, Lorence Lesser, the Borromeo Quartet, the Muir Quartet, and Lee Fiser of the LaSalle Quartet among others.
