Paul Stein

 

Paul SteinPaul Stein has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic since 1981 and was featured as soloist at the Hollywood Bowl. He was principal second violinist with the Colorado Symphony and performed with the Santa Fe Opera orchestra.


Born in Dallas, he received a Bachelor of Music from Southern Methodist University and Master of Music from Yale University. His teachers included Broadus Erle, Syoko Aki, and Carroll Glenn. Paul has published numerous articles on the relationship between music and the mind in Strings Magazine, American String Teacher and California Music Teacher. He has moderated seminars and lectured at the Los Angeles Philharmonic Institute and conventions of the Music Teachers Association of California. He teaches violin and viola at his home in Monrovia and is on the faculties of Pasadena City College and Glendale College.


Paul has produced childrens’ concerts with Chamber Music Express since 1985. He has written stories to accompany the programs, including Galileo’s Metronome, The Voyage of the Viola, Parts 1 and 2, and Philharmonic Truck Stop. He produced the Midsummer Nights’ Music series at the Pasadena Jewish Temple and Center for six years and is currently director of the Classical Kaleidoscope chamber music series at the Arcadia Library. His hobbies are bridge and aquariums.
