Odyssey Duet: Anna Audenis, piano; Hannah Kim, violin

 

Hannah Kim (15) is a sophomore co-chair at the Sage Hill High School in Newport Coast, CA. She started playing violin when she was five years old and currently studies with Linda Rose. She soloed with the Orchestra for the first time when she was ten years old and appeared multiple times as a soloist with Dream Orchestra, Debut Orchestra, Riverside Philharmonic, SYMF Orchestra and San Fernando Valley Symphony. She won many 1st place prizes at ASTA, MTAC, SYMF and Musical Arts Competition of Orange County. Most Recently she won 1st Place in the Young Violinist Category at the Southwest Youth Music Festival (SYMF). She was the only violinist chosen to solo with the Festival Orchestra. She was a merit scholarship recipient for five consecutive years  2012-2017 at the Colburn School and also at Young Musicians Foundation. She was selected by the faculty of the Colburn School to perform at the School's Honor's recitals in 2015 and 2016. She has been actively involved in chamber music since 2012. Her Trio, the Encore Trio, won Silver Medal in 2017 PCM Chamber Music Competition. She also plays in a Trio and a Quartet to help raise funds for the Smile Train, a nonprofit organization that provides corrective surgery for children with cleft lips and palate.

 

Anna Audenis (13) is a rising star pianist from California. She began her study of piano at age 5 and has since participated in number of festivals and competitions in both the United States and Europe, where she has charmed audiences and judges alike with her thoughtful musical interpretations. Most recently Anna has earned 1st place at the 2018 Kathryn Gawartin Chopin Piano Competition and 1st place at the Great Composer Chopin Competition. In addition Anna has earned 2nd place at the Music Teacher National Association State Competition in California, at the San Jose International Piano Competition, and at the Krystian Tkaczevsky International Piano Competition in Poland. Anna has also participated in numerous master classes were she has played for Sarkis Baltaian, Eteri Andjaparidze, Enrico Elisi, Yunji Chen, and Antonio Pompa Baldi. Also, she was featured at the TEDx conference in the Czech Republic at the age of 9 and at the same year she made her orchestral debut with orchestra Napolitana in Italy. Adding to her growing experience as a soloist, she has also performed for the past 5 years in Junior Chamber Music Program in Orange County California in various chamber groups.

 

Anna has been fortunate to study under the tutelage of Eduardo Delgado, Dmitry Rachmanov, and currently with Rufus Choi.


Anna says that for her, "Music is a language of heart."
