YUKI MORI
Violinist and teacher Yuki Mori was a student of the legendary violinist JASCHA HEIFETZ and is a graduate of THE JUILLIARD SCHOOL where he was a scholarship student of DOROTHY DeLAY and MASAO KAWASAKI. He also studied chamber music with ROBERT MANN of the JUILLIARD QUARTET.
Having won numerous competitions and also having performed as soloist with orchestras in his youth while living in Australia, he was advised by KIKUEI IKEDA, violinist of the TOKYO QUARTET, to study with JASCHA HEIFETZ. Eventually when he was 16 years old, he was accepted as the youngest student of Mr. HEIFETZ. Since his US recital debut in 1987, he has performed as soloist and chamber musician in the USA, Korea, Australia, Japan and Taiwan. Highlights of his performances include the New York premiere of "SUNRISE OF THE PLANETARY DREAM COLLECTOR” a composition by the renowned American composer TERRY RILEY (FOCUS FESTIVAL OF LINCOLN CENTER) and a performance for the prince and princess of Japan on their official visit to the USA. Mori is currently teaching at Azusa Pacific University and has also taught at CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY OF LOS ANGELES and was also the Professor of Violin at THE UNIVERSITY OF SUWON in Korea. He has also given master classes in the USA, KOREA and TAIWAN and has taught at KINHAVEN MUISC FESTIVAL, SEOUL NATIONAL SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL, TATESHINA MUSIC FESTIVAL in Japan, MONTECITO INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL, EUMAG CHUNCHU MUSIC FESTIVAL, J&R MUSIC FESTIVAL, YAEJIN MUSIC FESTIVAL and others. His students have won top prizes in Osaka International Competition in Japan, MTNA competition National Round, Cecilia International Competition in Japan, ASTA competition State Finals, SYMF, American Protégé competition, VOCE competition State Round, OPUS competition National Round, Korea Times competition, Bellflower Concerto Audition, Southern California Philharmonic Concerto Audition, South Coast Symphony Concerto Audition, VOCE competition State Round, OPUS competition National Round and others. His student has also been a semifinalist at the prestigious Stulberg International String Competition. His students have also won the auditions to be on the NPR Radio’s “From the Top” which is a nationally syndicated radio program. (KUSC 91.5 FM in Southern California) His students have also been selected numerous times to the distinguished national youth orchestra, NYO and NYO2 and also have served as concertmasters and principals of the orchestras. Both Mori and his wife MIN JUNG PARK have been presented with an award by the CROSSROADS SCHOOL of Los Angeles in recognition of their superior teaching in violin. As a conductor, Mori has conducted THE SEOUL METROPOLITAN SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA at the opening ceremony for the 46th KOREAN ACADEMY AWARDS (DAEJONG SANG) as well as the SEOUL NATIONAL SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA,the PLANETARY CHAMBER EMSEMBLE and others. As a composer, his compositions have been performed at the Purcell Hall in London and Tokyo Bunka Kaikan Hall by the ENSEMBLE SAKURA. His arrangement of Piazzolla’s Libertango for 6 violins and piano was performed in Tokyo, Osaka and Fukuoka Japan by international violinists RAY CHEN, AKIKO SUWANAI, SERGEY KHATCHATRYAN, SVETLIN ROUSSEV, ARABELLA STEINBACHER and VERONIKA EBERLE. His music was also performed at the Peabody Institute and the San Francisco Conservatory.
