Armonioso Quartet

Brendan Chang is a junior at Arnold O. Beckman High School in Irvine. He is a two-year member of the Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra where he is a member of the first violin section. He serves as the assistant concertmaster of Beckman’s Chamber Orchestra and has performed at renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York and Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. As part of OC Music and Dance’s Allegrio Quartet, Brendan has performed at community events, including former President Bush’s painting exhibition at the Nixon Library. Brendan also volunteers at Love in Music, where he teaches the violin to students from underprivileged areas. Outside of music, Brendan spends his time watching football and enjoys subjects such as English and history.

Emily Shen is currently a sophomore at Fairmont Preparatory Academy and studies cello with CoCo Yana Hu. She is actively participating in many orchestras, including Orange County Youth Symphony (OCYS), All Southern California Honor Symphony Orchestra (SCSBOA) and LA Youth Philharmonic Orchestra (LAYPO). Last summer, she performed at Walt Disney Concert Hall with LAYPO and later performed at LA Colburn School of music as a featured soloist along with LAYPO. Emily is also actively participating in competitions such as Satori Strings Contest, VOCE, AMICI, ASTA etc. Recently, she participated in the masterclass with Peabody professor Amit Peled.

Emily also tried her best to spread music within her community. As a dedicated officer of Tri-M Music Honor Society Fairmont, she tutors kids who want to learn music in other Fairmont campuses and spreads the joy of music.

Despite playing cello, Emily also likes science and sports. As a current member of Fairmont varsity girls golf and former varsity cheerleading team, Emily entered multiple competitions and helped Fairmont to get Champions such as San Joaquin Girl’s Golf All League Team Champion this school year.
